Striker Curtis Job scored a 52nd minute winner as Stokely Vale FC beat St Clair Coaching School (SCCS) 1-0 in the Charity Cup exhibition game, to mark the opening of the Tobago Football League 2007.
SCCS displayed good technical footwork in the center of the field during a competitive first half, knocking the ball around but lacked the finishing touch in their play much to the anticipation of the spectators at the Dwight Yorke Stadium. However, seven minutes into the second half a miscommunication between the last man and goalkeeper left Curtis Job totally unmarked with an empty goal to tuck away the lone item.
SCCS kicks off their first game in the Community Cup Home and Away Tournament (TFA 2007) on June 6, against Bethel United.

St Clair Coaching School (SCCS) defeated Phoenix 4-3 on penalties to secure the SCCS Invitational Cup, after an 80th minute equalizer by Trevin Caesar to lock the game at 1-1.
Phoenix striker Shelton Williams scored in the 57th with a deceptive play that sent both keeper and defender away from the open goal. However, it was Trevin Caesar’s 80th minute equalizer that brought the Dwight Yorke Stadium in an uproar. Deft dribbling skills and quick feet saw Wilson weaving himself through five of Phoenix’s defenders and launching a powerful right-footer pass the goalkeeper.
The event was hosted by SCSS with invitees from Charlotteville, La Brea and Phoenix FC on May 18–19, as a warm-up for the Tobago Football League 2007. Coaching School captain, Tyrone Walters, collected the winner’s trophy on behalf of the team

St. Clair’s Coaching School’s facilities in Carnbee, Tobago, recently received a much needed upgrade.
The facilities now sport newly built changing rooms for both players and match officials. It is reported that the new changing rooms were built at a cost of approximately TT$170,000. Coach St. Clair noted that, “The quality of the changing rooms are so much better now, and they expose Tobago’s youth to another level”.
Coach St. Clair went on to add that the new changing rooms were as a result of significant contributions from three separate bodies:
- The National Lottery Board,
- The Tobago House of Assembly
- The United States Embassy (Port of Spain, Trinidad)
St. Clair’s Coaching School would like to express our gratitude to these three organizations for their contributions. The benefits will be experienced by so many today, tomorrow, and for a long time to come.

World Exodus to Major League Soccer?

According to Reuters, David Beckham will reportedly earn $250 million in a five-year deal to play in the United States — but at least 80 percent of that money has nothing to do with his kicking a ball for the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Yes, you read that correctly! Beckham, who leaves Real Madrid at the end of the season, will become the highest paid player for Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States. MLS sources say his annual playing income will only be in the “single-figure millions.”
With Beckham getting paid up to $50 million over five years for playing soccer, where does the rest of the money come from?
“Most of the value is from David’s worldwide endorsement,” MLS Deputy Commissioner Ivan Gazidis said on Thursday. “That’s a separate deal. That’s his deal with CAA (Creative Artists Agency) and 19 Entertainment. That’s not something we’re involved in.”
It appears that the MLS is becoming more and more attractive to ‘ballers who are getting close to retirement. For example, Soca Warriors’ standout Shaka Hislop was signed by FC Dallas in July or 2006, after his contract ended with Portsmouth.
Carlos Valderama previously did the same. Romario and Zinho did not join the MLS, but played in the United Soccer League. Would Dwight Yorke be a candidate some day?
