Hayden FitzwilliamsCoaching School ex-pats Hayden Fitzwilliams and Nicholas Goddard featured prominently in Toronto Croatia’s dominance over the Serbian White Eagles this past Saturday in a 1-0 upset.

At Lamport Stadium on Saturday, Serbian Eagles had several chances in the first half, including close range efforts by striker Sasa Viciknez, but Croatia ‘keeper Sandi Matika was outstanding in making saves that prevented the defending CSL champions from finding the net.

Despite the Serbian pressure on the Toronto Croatia goal it was the home side that took the lead, an unusual strike by forward Hugo Herrera who took a high ball from a Serbia defender on his chest to deflect into the net from close range.

Serbian forward Alex Braletic was prominent until he was substituted at 70 minutes and defender Uros Stamatovic also stood out for the current CSL champions.

Serbian White Eagles did find the net, a disallowed goal by midfielder Kiril Dimitrov at 88 minutes, but with outstanding goalkeeping from Matika and solid defending from Nicholas Goddard and midfielder Hayden Fitzwilliams, Toronto Croatia held on for the 1-0 victory which gave the Mississauga-based team an unbeaten 3-0-1 WLT record for 10 points to lead the International Division.
