Sources have confirmed, that Caledonia AIA and Puerto Rico Islanders FC have
reached an agreement on the transfer of Trinidad and Tobago international Keon
“Schillaci” Daniel from the TTPro League to the United Soccer League (USL).
Daniel, a native of Lambeau, Tobago and a graduate of the St. Clair Coaching
School will join fellow nationals Nigel Henry and Kendall Jagdeosingh for the
2010 season that commenced on Saturday, April 9th.
Capped 37 times for his country, the T&T international is looking forward with
enthusiasm to the season with his new club. When asked to reflect on his season
with Caledonia AIA, he said “I am grateful for the opportunity that I had with
Caledonia, I cannot begin to tell you how much I have learnt from Coach Jamaal
Shabaaz and his staff during my time at the club. All I can really say, is that I am
thankful for my time there because it provided the foundation for me to embrace
this new opportunity, and I would just like to wish them (Caledonia AIA) all the
best for the upcoming TTPro league season.”
“Last season the PR Islanders finished third in the USL, and I am looking
forward to helping them improve that position this season. I am also looking
forward to helping them qualify for CONCACF Champions League (CCL) via
the CFU tournament”, the possibility of playing CCL was a major attraction for
Daniel.
“I am walking into this opportunity prepared to work hard every day to give my
best for PR Islanders.”

Coaching School ex-pats Hayden Fitzwilliams and Nicholas Goddard featured prominently in Toronto Croatia’s dominance over the Serbian White Eagles this past Saturday in a 1-0 upset.
At Lamport Stadium on Saturday, Serbian Eagles had several chances in the first half, including close range efforts by striker Sasa Viciknez, but Croatia ‘keeper Sandi Matika was outstanding in making saves that prevented the defending CSL champions from finding the net.
Despite the Serbian pressure on the Toronto Croatia goal it was the home side that took the lead, an unusual strike by forward Hugo Herrera who took a high ball from a Serbia defender on his chest to deflect into the net from close range.
Serbian forward Alex Braletic was prominent until he was substituted at 70 minutes and defender Uros Stamatovic also stood out for the current CSL champions.
Serbian White Eagles did find the net, a disallowed goal by midfielder Kiril Dimitrov at 88 minutes, but with outstanding goalkeeping from Matika and solid defending from Nicholas Goddard and midfielder Hayden Fitzwilliams, Toronto Croatia held on for the 1-0 victory which gave the Mississauga-based team an unbeaten 3-0-1 WLT record for 10 points to lead the International Division.
